Council have approved some magor changes for 2025 and they are outlined below.
DNA Testing. All lambs going forward from 2025 will require the sire to have a DNA profile test. This applies to all lambs born by natural service and those used for AI. The Society will pay the costs of the DNA tests for your rams for 2025. Full details will be made available soon.
Membership and Registration fees will remain unchanged, except for those registrations submitted on paper . This applies for Pedigree sheep only. Paper registration fees will increase by 20% and this will come into force from January 2025. MB registration fees remain unchanged. From 2025 you will have the option to opt out of paper certificates, we can send you a file once the sheep have been registered and paid for, which will have a PDF certificate for you to print if you so wish. However, as we all know a peice of paper can be worthless, your best assurance that the sheep is registered is to go online and check - there has been an instance recently (not our breed) where someone had forged certificates and the animals in question werent registered and even the secretary;s signature had been used. I know some of you will still wish to have a paper certificate and of course we will continue to produce them for the time being. With the new intergated system we will now be operating within Grassroots and Xero, sheep will not appear as part of your flock details until the registrations are paid for, so please therefore ensure your Premier sale sheep are registered and paid for well before the closing date.
